Cooperation Initiative Announced by Leading Technology and Product Suppliers of Activated Carbon for Contaminated Sediment Remediation
Sediment Solutions, LLC and AquaBlok, Ltd, manufacturers of SediMite™ and AquaGate+PAC™, are pleased to move forward in a cooperative agreement to provide scientifically viable remedies using activated carbon (AC) to remediate sediments contaminated with PCBs, dioxins, pesticides, PAHs and other hydrophobic chemicals. The companies’ products can be used to form a reactive layer beneath a cap, as part of a reactive cap, or for in-situ treatment of the biologically active zone of surface sediments. The products can also be tailored to a broad range of environmental conditions and water depths.
Sedimite Installation
Because SediMite and AquaGate+PAC deliver smaller-sized AC, treatment effectiveness is substantially increased for equivalent amounts of AC compared to AC delivered in a granular AC (GAC) form. This enables cost-effective solutions and provides communities and responsible parties with increased confidence in treatment efficacy when using AC.
The cooperation will enable its customers to maximize the benefits of working with both firms. Together, the two companies bring industry experience, product versatility, and a depth of technical expertise and leadership in the design and implementation of in-situ remediation with activated carbon. The two companies are also collaborating for Battelle Sediment Conference 2021 short course presentation on “Application of Activated carbon to Sediment Remediation: Design to installation to Monitoring Reactive Capping and In-Situ Treatment.”
